A pioneering year where we invited young people from Shebbear College to join the team. This gave a fabulous dynamic. The team dug a long drop, improved a local house for a Child Headed Household, took 25 primary school children on the ‘trip of a lifetime’ to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

A remarkable trip, achieving an immense amount of work on a variety of projects and programmes. It has been a significant pioneering trip taking 20 primary school children away and launching the concept tube house project. The young people have become an extraordinary team and they have had a life-shaping experience over an intense programme

The 2014 school team consisted of 12 boys, 1 girl and a dentist! Projects included schools work, building a kitchen annex for a rural family, painting their living room and digging a massive hole to install an underground water tank.

In the summer of 2013, a team of 11 St David’s College pupils and 3 staff members travelled to Uganda. This trip was unlike any before as we finally saw our medical centre being opened to the Maya community for dental work, in partnership with Dentaid.

In August 2012 we ran one of our most intensive programmes to date.

The volunteers lived and worked through a constant rush of one new experience after another. We partnered with two other organisations who approached us during the year - the Rotary Club and The King's Foundation.

Groups are always keen to get stuck in with a bit of digging, building and painting. Over the years our teams have worked closely with members of the local community to build extra classrooms, install a water tank, lay the foundations for the maternity centre and make thousands of bricks!
