Joe and Steph's story - just 12 days from not knowing a Ukrainian Refugee to the arrival and welcome in their home!

On Monday March 14th Joe and Steph put this post on the Host4Ukraine App….

Within a few hours of this message, Nataliia, stuck in Poland in the refugee crisis, messaged Steph and Joe and asked if they would sponsor her to come to UK. They shared details and Joe and Steph gathered all the information they thought they would need, so that when the Government registration opened on Friday 18th March, they were ready to do the Visa application. This is done on one form - both host and refugee - from UK side. The information was received back that the Visa is being processed - we are all now no more on a ‘cliff hanger’ - their Ukrainian guest has arrived in their home.

More to come as we follow the timing of the visa process and then the journey over.

You will notice on the summary sheet below that Joe and Steph applied for a Volunteer Basic DBS - this hasn’t proved necessary for the visa application, but it is good practice and also will help the Local Authority when they come to check the suitability of the Joe and Steph’s home as a host.
