Volunteering with Link International
We are a small charity taking on a big task! We do not employ anyone directly and our capacity to operate comes from the support of the Trustees and some key volunteers who commit as much as half of their working week for the Ukrainian Response Programme.
So we do depend on volunteers, especially for specific projects and the Ukraine Response is one such project.
We have capacity to take on up to around 10 volunteers who are committed to deliver specific support to meet needs that become apparent. For all the usual reasons we do have to go through several steps in a process to accept volunteers to work with us.
For the Ukraine Response we are working in partnership with Conwy Local Authority.
Our current priorities are to reduce barriers to:
Language
Employment
Community integration
Housing
Step 1: initial meeting
Meet up for a chat
Step 2: Application form
Please scroll down this form. You must complete each section before you can move on. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete the application.
Step 3: Reference follow up and dbs check
We follow up references and check your DBS status
The ideal for us is that a volunteer already has a DBS and is registered on the Update Service, so we can check through our system. If you are not registered on the Update Service but have a DBS certificate dated within the last 2 years or more recent we can accept this once we have seen the original and taken a scan for our records and Conwy LA.
If you do not have a DBS we will ask Conwy LA to process one with you.
The DBS needs to be Enhanced and for adults and children.
Step 4: safeguarding e-learning course
Every volunteer must complete the safeguarding e-learning module provided by the Welsh Government - it should take around 90 minutes.
Step 5: induction
Induction and any relevant training including signing off our volunteer code of conduct. Once all this is completed we will give you an ID badge which you must wear when working in your volunteer capacity.
